Role of a live-in PHW

Our Professional Health Workers (PHW) support clients who require help and assistance moving around their home, when outside in their close communities or attending wider community events. Our aim is to prevent any unexpected falls or injuries. Client safety is essential and ensuring clients who are not fully mobile are supported is a priority.

Medication is another aspect of a client’s daily routine that a live-in PHW will manage.  Working closely with the client's doctors and family, the PHW will ensure the client receives the correct medication.  At Mahiri HomeCare, we monitor and report on all activities, so for patients who are unfit to control medication management themselves, the PHW will schedule medication intakes.  PHWs, where required can also place medication reorders and pick ups.

Another key function the live-in PHW will perform is friendly companionship throughout the day. Our PHWs provide a familiar face and help support the emotional well-being of the client.

How long do live-in care placements last?

Live-in care placements have no time frame, they are flexible and built around the needs of each client. Placements may be full time and others may not, depend on the client and client's family needs.

Clients who are living with specific illnesses such as dementia, cancer, stroke or multiple sclerosis, may have a live-in PHW who specialises in that field.  Mahiri HomeCare can provide specially trained PHWs who can meet all your requirements.
