Mahiri HomeCare PHWs assigned to prenatal and postnatal baby and mother care are experienced specialists.  They are there to provide support to our pregnant clients, mothers, and their loved ones in the comfort of their own home during the last few weeks of pregnancy and first few weeks after birth.

We are here to provide this invaluable support to our clients exactly when and where they need it, to help pregnant women and mothers adjust to their new family member and establish good feeding and sleeping routines for the baby and healthy feeding, bathing, exercising and well-being practices for the mother.

Why Can a PHW Help You?

The first few weeks of bringing a newborn home is difficult for almost every parent.  At Mahiri HomeCare our dedicated PHWs will take special care of you as a mother and your baby.  Our PHWs are a huge help to any family, but more so in the following circumstances:

  • Baby isn’t sleeping and mum & dad are exhausted
  • Baby isn’t feeding well (breast or bottle)
  • Families with other young children
  • Mother has post-natal depression
  • When other support isn’t available e.g., such as close family

What support can you expect from your PHW?:

  • Typically, our clients schedule in advance for PHW support well ahead of when they need it.  Our client or their loved ones typically book a PHW from 3-10 weeks with a maternity nurse providing live-in support 24 hours, five to six days a week.

  • They will assist you with nursing where needed and provide invaluable information, suggestions and support on tasks required and on sleep routines.

  • In some cases, your PHWs may be able to provide some support for slightly older siblings (below 3 years) if required, to allow the parents to have some precious one-to-one time with their newborn.

  • PHWs will also support you with bathing your baby, bottle sterilisation, maintaining the nursery and laundering the baby’s clothes.

  • The PHW can also be called upon to provide relief and advice for parents when baby is having disturbed sleep due to colic or reflux, allowing the parents to have some rest.

Essentially, your PHW is there to provide the support you need and be someone that you can rely on for help, advice and care.
